It is a sad day here at WSBA because we lost our founder on Monday. Louis Appell Jr. passed away at the age of 92. The Appell family created several well-known businesses in York County that had national and international reach. from Susquehanna Radio, the original parent company of WSBA to Susquehanna Pfaltzgraph, among others. The enterprises employed thousands of people. But Mr. Appell was so much more than that. His commitment to York County was total. He was a true leader. It would be hard to count all the ways in which Mr. Appell’s vision and generosity has impacted York County. We offer the family our condolences.
A candlelight remembrance for Louis Appell Jr. will be held Friday night in York City during First Friday. Downtown Inc invites residents to join them on Continental Square at 8:30PM.
