York-area Congressman Scott Perry Thursday did not appear for a deposition scheduled by the January 6 Select Committee. The panel wants to know more about Perry who along with other GOP lawmakers took part in meetings at the White House, and had conversations with then-President Trump in the lead-up to the attack on the Capitol. Instead, the Congressman released a five-page letter from a Washington D.C. attorney claiming the committee’s activities were not valid. Federal courts have generally rejected such legal challenges. The committee is scheduled to begin a series of eight public hearings starting next month which they say will show the public evidence they have discovered through witness depositions and other exhibits.
