A statewide recount for Pennsylvania’s GOP Senate primary has been ordered. Acting Secretary of State Leigh Chapman made the announcement Wednesday as Dr. Mehmet Oz leads David McCormick by 902-votes. That is less than the required half-a-percent margin needed to trigger a mandatory recount. Chapman says all counties must begin the process no later than June 1 and then complete their recounts by noon on June 7. Official totals will be compiled and then announced on June-8th. Meanwhile, Governor Wolf’s administration issued guidance to counties saying that any ballots without dates must be counted, citing a 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision from last Friday. But it added that counties should keep those ballots separate since the issue of whether they will be included in the final tally will probably be decided in the courts.
