Pennsylvania roads and highways were deadlier in 2021 according to PennDOT’s traffic fatality report for last year. Data shows that traffic deaths were up 9-percent from 1,129 in the pandemic year of 2020 to 1,230 in 2021. There were increases in fatalities for several categories including crashes involving a 16 to the 17-year-old driver, crashes involving aggressive driving, crashes involving a motorcycle and crashes involving heavy trucks.
