A Monroe County man sentenced to prison for killing a Lancaster County man in 2019 has died in a state correctional facility. Officials say 33-year-old Matthew VanZandt, was found unresponsive in his cell at Houtzdale in Clearfield County on May 11. He was pronounced dead that evening. VanZandt was serving a 12- to 24-year sentence for the stabbing death of his partner, 31-year old Ian Shannon in a home along the 400-block of Dickens Drive in Lancaster Township.
