Avian Flu Spreads Again In Lancaster Co.

A 7th poultry farm in Lancaster County has been affected by the avian flu. The USDA reports over 19-thousand ducks had to be destroyed there. So far, around 4-million chickens have been killed in Lancaster County in an attempt to control the spread of the highly contagious disease. Meanwhile, it’s not just large poultry farms that can be affected by avian flu. Many Pennsylvania residents started small backyard flocks during the COVID-19 pandemic so the Penn State Extension will offer a free webinar about bird flu for poultry owners, veterinarians, and 4-H youth and volunteers. Advance registration is required for tonite’s Zoom meeting that starts at 7 at extension.psu.edu
